OTF-1500X-8Z  is an eight-zone tube furnace with a mullite tube and conventional flange working up to 1500°C.. Each SiC heating element is controlled by an independent temperature controller to create various thermal gradient for special processing in material research, such as gradient functional material, high-through phase transition re-crystallization, etc.

Processing Tube

Material:  Mullite Ceramic   Made in the USA
Size:   84 O.D x 73 I.D x 1219mm L 
Heat Zone Length
  • Eight heating zones:  50 mm / each  (Including 20 mm spacing)
  • Total heating zone length:  400 mm  
  • Constant Temperature Zone length:   300mm  (If set 8 zones at the same temperature) +/- 2ºC.
  • Max. Temperature gradient:  100°C/inch
  • Note:  Thermal gradient can be adjusted by inserting thermal insulation spacing element between each heat.  Please contact our technical support to learn how
Temperature Controllers
  • 8 channels touch screen temperature controller for each heating element independently.
  • PID automatic control with 30 programmable segments for precise control of heating rate, cooling rate and dwell time in each channel
  • Over-temperature protection and alarm allow for operation without attendant(s).
  • +/- 1 ºC temperature accuracy.
  • 8 pcs S-type thermocouples (one for each zone).
  • RS485 Communications Port to connect Laptop computer to show temperature profile.
Vacuum Level
  • 10E-2 torr by quality mechanical vacuum pump
  • 10-5 torr by molecular pump

Thermal Block Placement
  • Two thermal blacks are included. Please picture below to learn how to place them inside the tube
  • You may order flange support to avoid tube rotating ( click Pic below right )

  • 16 pcs  1500ºC grade Silicon carbide rod  (14mm Dia. x 150mm heating  x  413mm length)
  • The heating element is consumable, Please click the picture below to order a spare and replacement.
  • 8 pcs S type thermal couple built-in

Application Notes
  • The tube furnaces with mullite tubes are designed for use under vacuum and low pressure < 0.02 Mpa
  • Never use graphite crucible in alumina tube.
  • Attention: A two-stage pressure regulator must be installed on the gas cylinder to limit the pressure to below 3 PSI for safe operation. Please click here to learn the installation of a gas regulator. 
  • The flow rate for gases should be limited to < 200 SCCM ( or 200ml/min )
  •  Vacuum pressures may only be safely used up to 1300°C
