KSL-1700X-O2 is an atmosphere-controlled box furnace designed for materials sintering under air, 100% oxygen, and inert atmosphere. The furnace consists of high-quality alumina fiber bricks and MoSi2 heating elements with a heating chamber of 8"x 8"x8". It is an ideal tool for preparing high purity oxide ceramic materials, especially for high Ni battery cathode materials. 


SPECIFICATIONS

Furnace structure
  • MoSi2 heating elements with Ni coated copper capable connection 
  • Double-layer steel structure for maximum vacuum and safety.
  • Water cooling front door and air cooling shell
  • Built-in pressure gauge, vacuum valves, and two gas float meters
Heating Chamber 
  • Heated chamber: 200x 200x 200 mm (8x8x8 inch), 8 Liter
  • Energy-saving 1800 grade fibrous alumina insulation
  • High purity Al2O3 coating
  • Warning: One Al2O3 fibrous door block is included to block heat radiation.
  • Max. sample loading:   100 Kg
 Power
  • AC 208 - 240V single phase, 50/ 60 Hz, 50 A
  • 7.5 KW
  • The power cable is included without a plug.
Heating Elements
  • 6 sets of MoSi2 heating elements are built-in and replaceable 
  • Working temperature range: 600°C - 1700°C in air or oxygen
  • Note: the heating elements also can be used under inert gas at 1000oC - 1600 oC)
  • The furnace is not a high vacuum furnace. The vacuum level is about 500 torr at high temperature 

Working Temperature

  • Air and oxygen 800 - 1600°C
  • Nitrogen/Argon depending on the dew point. 
  • Max. 1700°C(<60min)
  • Accuracy: +/- 2°C
  • Heating Rate: 5°C / min
  • Thermocouple: dual B type T/C for control and monitor alarm separately

Control Panel

  • Built-in PC for controlling temperature and pressure 
  • Temperature Control: 
    • Eurotherm 3000 controllers with a resolution of 0.1 °C
    • 24 segments programmable
    • Protection for over-temperature and current, as well as the thermal couple, broke
    • A secondary temperature controller is built-in for extra over-temperature protection.
  • Pressure Control:
    • Inert gas Purging via manually or an automatic mode
    • Constand pressure during heating
    • High and Low-pressure protection
    • The pressure controllable range: -0.06 to 0.03Mpa. 
    • The pressure sensor and pressure controller are installed to control the set pressure constant. 
    • The pressure control can be used to perform the following functions:
  • Safety Alarm System:
    • Over-temperature protection
    • Over-pressure and lower pressure alert
    • Low water flow alert
  • Data Collection
    • Recording temperature profile
    • Recording pressure profile
    • All data is saved to the hard disc of the PC
    • Local WIFI operation at a remote distance is available upon request
Vacuum pump & Gas Flow Control 
  • Two large flow meters are installed on the front panel of the furnace for purging via inert gas and filling oxygen gases
  • One vacuum pump is included to enhance purging and keep the chamber below 760 torr
  • Low vacuum 10-1 torr due to fibrous alumina insulation material. Using 5% H2 + Ar will improve oxidation during heating. For oxygen-sensitive material, please use a hydrogen furnace
Water Cooling
A 58L/min recirculating water cooling is required to cool the furnace sealing flange and chamber case.
